US National Parks That Don't Get Nearly Enough Attention As They Should

May 03, 2017

Most people are familiar with the more popular national parks, but that's about it. It's a shame as there are 59 in total, and they all offer a lot to tourists that have the opportunity to visit them. These are a few of the national parks that don't get nearly enough attention.

North Cascades National Park In Washington

Here you can find rivers, lakes, valleys and glacial peaks. No matter where you go at this park, you can see an amazing view. It's home to a lot of different wildlife including bald eagles. A favorite among tourists it to go white water rafting down the Stehekin River.

Great Sand Dunes National Park In Colorado

Parts of this national park are a lot different than many other parks. While it does have mountains and greenery, a surprising aspect of it are the sand dunes. Tourists love to sled, sandboard and even hike these sturdy dunes.

Great Basin National Park In Nevada

One of the interesting things about this national park is that some of the world's oldest trees are located here. There are miles of trails to tour as well as the Lehman Caves. A favorite among tourists is the ranger led astronomy activities.

Isle Royale National Park In Michigan

Located in the middle of Lake Superior, this park is actually pretty isolated. In fact, it sees fewer people in a year than Yellowstone National Park sees each day. It's filled with a variety of wildlife such as moose and wolves. If you are feeling a little hot and want to cool off, there are shipwrecks not far off shore that you can scuba dive too.

Grand Teton National Park In Wyoming

This park is actually located over the Jackson Hole Valley. It's considered to be one of the most beautiful and overlooked parks in the United States. There's a variety of things to do here such as boating, hiking and horseback riding.

Congaree National Park In South Carolina

You will find a lot of bridges and raised walkways here as the forest does tend to flood and many people refer to it as a swamp. It's a great place to enjoy the scenery and possibly spot an armadillo or two. During the fall months, it's definitely worth visiting to see some beautiful fall foliage.

Big Bend National Park In Texas

This park features deserts, mountains and rivers. However, the real attention grabber is the limestone canyons. It will take you a little while to get to the park as it's located in a remote park of Texas. It's worth visiting in the evenings as stargazing on a night that's clear is absolutely phenomenal.
